Keep the Peace

Oh the irony of a holiday which celebrates peace on earth being met with more stress and busy-ness than any other time of the year.
It's been a tradition of mine (Gina) for a few years now to remind my readers that in Traditional Chinese Medicine, the winter side of the seasonal cycle is the most yin.. dark, quiet, still. And it would serve us and our health best to slow down, partake of more introspective activities - to stay warm, nourish ourselves, and get lots of rest so that we have plenty of energy come the rush of spring.
Do you know anyone who does this?
Me neither.
Somehow our culture has turned this observance of light returning to the heart of darkness with madness and mayhem. Some of it is fun and exciting to be sure, but when it turns into stress and stampedes, I'm not sure where the fun is in that.
Perhaps this trend won't change anytime soon, but you can still keep this in mind, and allow yourself to take time to sink into the stillness of the season.
Here are a couple posts I wrote last year on my own blog to help you out (since I am WAY too busy to write new original ones for this year.. haha..):
Making Peace (on Earth) with the To-Do List
Have a Peaceful Holiday Season.
